Venice, California is home to an unforgettable scene of local characters, art, and surroundings that combine a highly vivid yet contagious laid back vibe. I love cruising the boardwalk that opens up to the skatepark and Venice Beach. The street art and murals add to the vibrant energy surrounding the town. The eclectic Abbot Kinney houses some of my favorite boutiques and restaurants in the state. Ready to check it out for yourself? Below are a few of my top picks for the ultimate Venice getaway:
The Butcher’s Daughter: Nothing compares to the dreamy interior of The Butcher’s Daughter. Somehow the decor perfectly complements the dishes. The plant-based restaurant (get it? Butcher’s Daughter) is my go to spot for brunch, fresh juices, and the best matcha latte. The restaurant is filled with plants, macrame, and gorgeous wood.
Tocaya Organica: Organic tacos, yes, please! Tocaya is a low-key casual restaurant serving up tacos, burritos, salads, and delicious guacamole with pomegranate seeds (my new favorite mash up).
Gjelina: While they serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner, I love Gjelina mostly for dinner. The Venice staple serves up fresh, veggie-forward options such as mushroom toast, wood roasted cauliflower, and a heavenly selection of salads and pizzas. Also, check out their sister restaurant and bakery Gjusta for delicious breakfast options!
Rent bikes and ride down to Santa Monica. The easy cruise down to Santa Monica takes you alongside the boardwalk and beaches.
Surf (or watch the surfers) from the Venice Beach pier.
Venice Beach Skate Park: This beachfront skate park is constantly packed with tourists and locals watching some of the best skaters in the world rip around. Even if you don’t skate (me) or you’re usually not interested in skateboarding (also me), you’re bound to pick up on the energy and enjoy soaking up the scene.
Show Me Your Mumu: I was beyond thrilled to find out one of my favorite brands (that is perfect for small girls) recently opened up a boutique this past year on Abbot Kinney! Show Me Your Mumu in Venice offers a selection of their top products in store from activewear to swim, and the best sundresses, crop tops, and even some cute little accessories. I LOVE these bells and this palm print knit. And for those not interested in prints, check out this adorable black crop top. Is it weird that I’m digging this bandana, too?
Tortoise General Store: This can’t miss design Venice boutique sells a unique range of home goods, books, kitchenware, stationery, and more.
Hotel Erwin: Location, location, location! Hotel Erwin is right in the heart of Venice and boasts an amazing rooftop that goes off every day for happy hour with panoramic views of the beach and city. If you’re looking for a different option, I highly recommend Airbnb. There are so many incredible options from cute bungalows near Abbot Kinney to cozy beach shacks steps away from the boardwalk.
